People are always asking me, “What are your resolutions for this year?”
They are also smart enough to say, “Hey, what resolutions should I have this year.”
As I thought about this and as hundreds of people have asked me that question in the last week. I thought back to a meeting some of our team had with John Maxwell in November in Boston, Mass.
The 3 items below are my adaption of what he sincerely suggested we do to EXPLODE our organization …
3 New Year’s Resolutions for 2013 – I wish our leaders would adopt in addition to their own personal resolutions:
1. Compete fiercely with yourself – BE THE BEST you can be! NAA is one team, so competing against each other is not the ticket – do not COMPARE or Compete with your team – THE ALLIANCE – GO OUT and do ALL YOU CAN DO! Every minute – every day.
How much can you do personally? You can beat others, but are you doing the best you can do? Focus on being your best YOU. Challenge yourself to do more, help more, etc. How good can you be in 2013?
Will you make sacrifices or changes to go past where you have previously? What vice in your life is holding you back or limiting how great you can be? Is it TV, smoking, drinking, etc.??? Make it a contest with yourself … in sales, recruiting, being a better person. Just be a better YOU and do the very best you can possibly do!
“Sacrifice is an ongoing process, not a one-time payment.” – John C. Maxwell
2. Show unbelievable appreciation for what we have – Appreciation and Leadership have to be VISUAL in a lot of ways… Let’s find MORE ways & show it!
How do you show appreciation? Do you speak it, give gifts, share with others, etc.? Are you truly grateful about all that we have because of The Alliance? We’ve had success. We’ve traveled the world. We’ve done things people only dream of. The way we talk, speak, and act shows gratitude. How do we show others that we are appreciative. Do we do it often enough?
Let’s show gratitude like never before in 2013!
“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer
3. Be open and trusting with the other LEADERS – the most valuable thing we have is each other’s advice and coaching
Having each other is the deal that helps us most. Trust is vital to our success. Leaning on each other is how we do it. It’s why we are going to be crazy successful this year. It’s about relationships, power, coaching each other, sharing, being good people.
Are you actively helping others move up? Are you putting the proper trust in others? Use our system. Part of that is Trust. It works. Trust the system and build it big.
“Enlarging others makes you larger.” – John C. Maxwell
I hope these three suggestions help you kick off 2013 in a big way.
